Feeling Better

Well I've gotton over the malaria. I had to take serious anti-malarials for a couple of days, but I seem to fine now. I also had a couple of days following the medication of being incredibly home sick and depressed. The depression may have been because of the drugs, or a combination of being sick and away from home. Anyway, I'm doing better now!

We had the interviews for the computer classes on Saturday, there is going to be an orientation session on Wednesday, and then classes start on Monday. Its really nice that things are moving now, and once the classes start I will be quite busy.

Since I was ill, I have not been able to think about eating rice, and when I look at it I start to feel sick. I've instead been able to buy some carrots and potatoes and cook them, I think it was the best meal I've ever had! It was nice just to not be eating rice. Since then I've stocked up on potatoes, carrots, and some bananas, I also bought can of Hienz Baked Beans... to see if I like it. Its nice to be able to be a little more self sufficient too, being able to make dinner when I feel hungry, instead of waiting until 8:00-9:30 for dinner to 'arrive'.

I was just on Skype for a while and was able to talk to Dad and Kathy (Skype Conference call!), and then with Grandma for a few minutes too. Such a wonderful program! Mom and Dad both use it with credit to call right to my cell phone, and it has enabled us to talk far more often, I think, than would have been possible otherwise!

Glad to hear you are feeling so much better, and that as a consequence of all this nasty stuff you are eatting a better variety of foods too! It is nice to be able to perpare something to eat when you are hungry.
Are you teaching English to the little ones, or did that plan fall through?

Will look forward to your impressions of your official computer classes.

    Love you. Consider yourself hugged.

So glad to hear you are feeling better, Liam. It must be difficult to feel miserable like you did when you're so far from home, but you sound like you've come through this ordeal OK. You must be very glad that things are progressing to the point where you'll actually be starting the classes, at last! I look forward to hearing about how that all comes together. Hugs and kisses . . . .

So glad to hear you are feeling better, it's not much of an adventure when you just want to be in "your own bed" and have family to care for you.
Things in Louisiana are looking up, though a new hurricane season started yesterday, hopefully nothing like Katrina blows through this year. I'm enjoying you Africa adventures, hope that now you are feeling better you are too! I think you are doing a very neat thing, and that you time there will be a fun learning experience. Best, Virginia S.
